About the ADRC
The UCI ADRC was officially established in 1999, and has received a continuing annual appropriation of 1.2 million dollars from the National Institute on Aging. The UCI ADRC is one of several multi-disciplinary and multi-investigator grants that is administered by The Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders.
The Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders at UCI is one of 29 centers across the country to be designated and funded by the National Institute on Aging as an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers (ADRC). The ADRC seeks to translate research advances into improved diagnosis and care for dementia patients, with the long-term goal of finding a way to cure and possibly prevent AD.
Areas of investigation range from the basic mechanisms of AD to managing the symptoms and helping families cope with the effects of the disease. The UCI ADRC faculty and staff conduct basic, clinical, and behavioral research and train scientists and health care providers who are new to AD research
